 This is a good site. Has good explanation of the four French wine categories. It's in French, but much of the information can be extracted even by those who don't know French.

Zinfandel "Seven Deadly Zins"

(From LeRoy Stewart, Sep 2004)

Here are some Zinfandel links, some of which I used for the Zinfandel Tasting:

  * http://www.zinfandel.org/

ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates and Producers)

An interesting aside--- If you perform a search on Google for "Seven Deadly Zins," you'll get all kinds of reports that are similar to what we did, i.e., a theme about seven great Zinfandels. Many make no mention at all of Lodi Vineyards' Seven Deadly Zins that we tasted!

Regards...

...LeRoy

Court says states can't bar out-of-state wine shipments

- CNN.com

"Wine lovers can't be barred from shipping home bottles purchased from out-of-state vineyards they visit in person or on the Internet, the Supreme Court said..." Read more from CNN

BUT...

"The State of Maryland allows neither in-state, nor out-of-state wineries to ship to Maryland consumers. Hence, the state’s ban on wine shipments is perfectly constitutional."

Thanks to Pat V. for recommending the article

Barry B. recommended the government publication below. Barry writes:

"It's a section of the Federal Register from 8 January 1996, when the BATF published its final rules on acceptable names for wine varietals sold in this country. Quite informative. I thought other folks might be interested in it, too. I'm sure the grape growers and wine makers amongst us already have read and digested it, but other people accessing the website might find, as I did, that it fills in a few gaps."

"Grape Variety Names for American Wines" - From the U.S. Federal Registry, Vol. 6, No. 5.

What's A PDF? A "PDF" is special document format created by Adobe Systems Incorportated, that is very useful on almost all types of computer systems and on the web. Documents with filenames such as "document.pdf" will appear almost exactly the same on screen and when printed on almost any computer device with the Adobe Reader installed. The Adobe Reader is widely used (there is a good chance your computer already employs it) and it is free from the Adobe Website. The link below is the one approved for just this purpose.

Adobe Reader is required for reading PDF files, and is available still free at...
