"Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of lifes most civilized pleasures." Michael Broadbent
September 24, 2000....
The sun was shining bright as we assembled in the out back of the Benzils. Phil did some intense research by visiting the southern hemisphere in preparation for his presentation. The light rain did nothing to deter our thirst for knowledge as we moved inside for the sequence on red. The results of our afternoon "down under"-

A comment was made that the MD Governors Cup wine, Woodhall Copernica Reserve was a better value at $28.00 than the Australian red wines. At last a political commentary I can stand behind!!!! For those that missed the Wine Festival and may be unaware, Jack and Emily Johnston grew the grapes that made the wine that was voted the best in Maryland! It should be noted that Bill Eisberg, also using grapes from Copernica won the amateur competition.
Next tasting Oct 15th - October will bring us back to the mainland as Penne Parker presents Zinfandel. It should be noted that this will be all RED and may cost $15.00 per person. Please make your reservations with the Grillions at xxxxxxxxxx by October 12th.
Planning for 2001 A Wine Oddessy. As the New Year approaches we need to fill in the calendar. If you have wanted to research your favorite Wine red, white or pink, now is your opportunity! There is a number of prime months left. If you prefer, we also have openings for house hosts.
In Vino Veritas,
Walt
