Quote the Ravens "Who let the dogs out?"
January 27, 2001
Thanks to Carmen and Richard Blosveren we had the house, thanks to yours truly we had the Porto, thanks to the weatherman we had the snow, that had to be shoveled, to go to the house, to drink the Porto&ldots;.. Well you get the picture. The 24 hearty souls that made the trek were well rewarded with the liquid gold that is Porto. Of special note was the lack of a test for the first time in many Port Tasting. As a matter of fact the only thing missing on this afternoon was a fire in the fireplace as we looked out over the freshly fallen snow. The wines presented:

Next meeting will be February 18, 2 PM at the Kerseys, where we will be carried back to Old Virginny for a taste of Gold Medal winners from the Governors Cup Competition. Please call the Kerseys at XXXXXX to reserve your seat. As usual, munchies are appreciated.
Its that time of year when our annual mailing list dues are again due. They are $9.00 per household (same as a good bottle of vin ordinaire). Please pay them at the next meeting, or mail them (checks payable to Carroll County AWS or CCAWS) to John Landon XXXXX. Also, if you have not already done so, National AWS dues are also due for year 2001. Remember, the National By-laws require membership in National AWS if you are a member of a local chapter. We are a local chapter of the American Wine Society therefore, you should also be a National member.
Looking forward, the March 18 meeting will be at the Johnstons where the topic will be "Old Vine Wines". Sounds like a wonderful idea since older is better when it comes to wines and viniculture. The April meeting has been changed to the Benzils
In Vino Veritas,
